The Obidient Movement has warned that it will no longer stand by if anyone attacks Nigerians or its supporters during political campaigns and elections.
The movement’s leader, Dr Yunusa Tanko, issued the warning while reacting to the reported attack on members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) during a One Million Man March in Warri, Delta State, on Friday, September 18, 2026.
According to Tanko, Nigerians have a constitutional right to campaign, mobilise, assemble and support candidates of their choice without intimidation or violence.
He said the movement would defend those rights through what he described as lawful resistance, mass mobilisation and self-defence.

Tanko also called on security agencies to maintain peace during the campaign period. He urged them to act against those involved in political violence.
The movement said the Warri incident raised concerns about political intimidation ahead of the 2027 general elections. It urged security agencies to ensure that Nigerians can participate in political activities without fear of attacks.
The warning followed an earlier allegation by NDC Delta Central senatorial candidate Ovie Omo-Agege. He claimed that armed men attacked his convoy in Delta State. The attack reportedly injured six NDC members.The APC has denied involvement in that earlier incident.
The Obidient Movement said political disagreements should not prevent Nigerians from exercising their democratic rights. The Obidient Movement maintained that voters should determine the outcome of the 2027 elections at the ballot box.

The Obidient Movement also stressed the importance of allowing political groups to organise rallies and engage voters without disruption. As preparations for the 2027 elections continue, the movement urged relevant authorities to create an environment where candidates, supporters and other Nigerians can participate in political activities peacefully. It said security agencies have a responsibility to prevent attacks and respond appropriately when political violence occurs.
