Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 23 kidnapped victims in Sokoto State. They also arrested four suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group.
The operations were carried out on Sunday, September 20, according to the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja. The troops also recovered six cattle allegedly rustled by terrorists.

In another operation along the Sabon Birni-Takatsaba Road in Sabon Birni Local Government Area, troops acted on intelligence about terrorists attempting to cross the road around Chabe Biyu.
The soldiers established an ambush and engaged the terrorists after sighting them, forcing the attackers to flee. The troops subsequently maintained a presence in the area to prevent them from regrouping.
17 Kidnap Victims Rescued in Isa
Troops also responded to a distress call concerning terrorist activities along the Isa-Kwanar Isa-Shinkafi Road in Isa Local Government Area.
After engaging the terrorists and forcing them to retreat, troops searched the area and rescued 17 kidnapped civilians. Troops took one of the victims, who sustained a fracture, to General Hospital, Isa, for treatment.
Meanwhile, in Illela Local Government Area, troops intercepted four suspected members of the Lakurawa group who were allegedly moving rustled cattle from Sarma Village towards Illela.
Troops arrested the suspects at a military checkpoint and recovered six cows. The suspects and livestock remain in military custody as investigations continue. Efforts are also underway to apprehend other fleeing members of the group.
Lieutenant Colonel Danja said the operations showed the impact of intelligence-led military action. He said the efforts helped disrupt terrorist activities and rescue kidnapped civilians.
