According to Udende, the attacks occurred in Katsina-Ala, Ukum and Logo Local Government Areas.

He reported that 24 people died in an attack on Sai community in Katsina-Ala. Another 63 people were killed in Bom and Aboajio villages in Ukum.

Senate Calls for Stronger Security Operations

Following the motion, the Senate urged the Inspector-General of Police and the Chief of Army Staff to strengthen security operations in the affected areas. It also called on intelligence agencies to improve their response.

Lawmakers stressed the need for better intelligence gathering. They also called for more security personnel and effective early-warning systems. These measures could help security agencies identify threats before attacks occur.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio expressed concern over the deaths of security personnel. He questioned the safety of civilians who cannot defend themselves against armed attackers.

The lawmakers observed a minute of silence for the victims. They also extended condolences to the bereaved families and the Nigeria Police Force.

In addition, the Senate called on the National Emergency Management Agency to work with the Benue State Emergency Management Agency. The agencies are expected to provide relief materials and support to affected residents.

The Senate said security agencies must take preventive action. It also stressed the need for a sustained security presence in vulnerable communities. Authorities now face pressure to investigate the killings and prevent further bloodshed.
