Lekki–Epe Expressway repairs are scheduled to begin on October 15, 2026, according to reports on the planned rehabilitation. The Lagos State Government expects the work to last 35 days. Motorists should prepare for possible traffic delays.
The project will cover the stretch between Bonny Camp and Admiralty Way Junction. Other sections around Victoria Garden City (VGC) will also receive attention. The government plans to introduce traffic diversions during construction.
Olufemi Daramola, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Infrastructure, announced the project at a stakeholders’ meeting. The Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure organised the meeting. Residents, business owners and other stakeholders attended.
Lekki–Epe Expressway Repairs to Cover Key Sections
The Lekki–Epe Expressway repairs aim to improve road conditions and safety. The road connects residential communities, commercial centres and industrial facilities across eastern Lagos.
The road also serves businesses around the Lekki Free Zone, Lekki Deep Sea Port and Dangote Refinery. Traffic delays could affect private motorists and commercial drivers. Businesses that rely on the corridor may also experience disruptions.
The government says the rehabilitation forms part of its wider road improvement efforts. The Lekki–Epe axis continues to attract new residential and commercial developments. Better road conditions could support movement across the area.
However, contractors must complete the work within the scheduled period. Effective planning will also help reduce disruptions for road users.
Motorists Warned of Possible Traffic Delays
The government plans to manage traffic during construction. Motorists should prepare for possible delays, especially during peak hours.
Residents have also stressed the need for proper drainage and clear road signs. Adequate traffic control will help protect motorists and construction workers. Officials must also communicate changes to traffic arrangements clearly.
Drivers travelling through Bonny Camp, Admiralty Way Junction and VGC should allow extra time for their journeys. They should follow instructions from traffic officials. Motorists should also check government updates before setting out.
The 35-day project will test the state’s ability to complete road repairs while maintaining traffic flow. Clear communication will remain essential throughout the exercise. Effective traffic management could also reduce the impact on residents and businesses.
Motorists should monitor official announcements for confirmed diversion routes and schedule changes.
