Popular Nigerian TikToker Elizabeth Amadou, better known as Jarvis, has opened up about her childhood struggles, revealing how poverty, an absent father and challenges at home shaped her early years.
Jarvis shared the experience while speaking alongside her husband, Peller, during a Sunday service in the United Kingdom. She said she grew up without her father and was raised largely by her grandparents, while her mother struggled with bipolar disorder.
According to the content creator, growing up in the situation was stressful and sometimes left her without the support she needed.
Jarvis childhood struggles and hunger
Jarvis said her childhood struggles included periods of hunger and financial hardship that affected her and her sister.
She recalled that she and her sister sometimes went without food and would watch cooking videos on TikTok simply to imagine eating the meals they saw.

She said they would pray for help, cry and eventually go to sleep because there was nothing to eat.
Despite the hardship, Jarvis said she was determined to remain in school. She also avoided being influenced into taking the wrong path to make money.
How TikTok changed her life
Jarvis explained that her TikTok livestreaming journey began after someone contacted her on the platform. The person told her she could make money by going live.
She initially felt shy, but she started livestreaming with her sister. Their first earnings were about $5. She said they were very happy at the time because of the financial difficulties they were facing.
The livestreaming eventually developed into content creation and helped Jarvis build an audience online.
She said her motivation was not only to make money for herself. She also wanted to take care of her sister and provide a better life for both of them.
Jarvis’ story has since attracted attention online, with many Nigerians reacting to her account of the difficult circumstances she experienced before gaining fame.
