Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased the price of petrol to ₦1,350 per litre, adding fresh pressure to Nigeria’s already rising fuel prices.
The refinery raised its petrol gantry price from ₦1,265 to ₦1,350 per litre, representing an increase of ₦85 per litre, or about 6.7 per cent.
The new price took effect on Saturday, September 12, 2026, according to a circular issued to the refinery’s customers.
Dangote petrol price rises for fourth time
The latest adjustment marks the fourth increase in Dangote Refinery’s petrol gantry price since August 21.
The refinery first moved the price from ₦1,165 to ₦1,185 per litre on August 21. It later increased it to ₦1,200 on August 26 and then to ₦1,265 on August 29.

With Saturday’s increase, the Dangote Refinery petrol price has risen by ₦185 per litre in 22 days, representing a cumulative increase of about 15.9 per cent.
The refinery also increased its coastal delivery price from ₦1,669,545 to ₦1,783,530 per metric tonne.
Higher petrol price may affect consumers
The latest increase is coming amid elevated international crude oil prices and higher petroleum product replacement costs.
Recent reports have linked the pressure on domestic petrol prices to the rise in global crude prices, with Brent crude trading above $100 per barrel. It was also reported that the increase in international crude prices was already putting pressure on petrol prices in Nigeria.
“However, the ₦1,350 price is Dangote Refinery’s gantry price. It does not mean every filling station will immediately sell petrol at the same price. Marketers may add transportation, storage and other operating costs before selling to motorists.
However, the new wholesale price could put further pressure on pump prices. It could also affect transportation costs and businesses that rely heavily on petrol.
Motorists and consumers are already dealing with rising living costs. The latest adjustment could further increase transportation costs and the price of everyday goods.
